Here are my rules for giveaways:
1) There has to be something in it for the reader (obviously) and generally it will only be something that I either really like or think that others will really like (aka my wife really likes it). I will tell you whether it was given to me by a company or if I’m just giving it away because I found it, bought it and want to give it away.
2) I will be receiving some sort of compensation, generally in the form of what they are giving the reader, for taking the time to research the product, write about it and promoting it. Let’s face it, the reason companies give stuff away is for a few reasons. They want you to go to their site and look at all they offer, they may want you to link to their site in the comment section, and they want to give you their product so you can love it and want more. There’s nothing wrong with any of that, but if I’m helping them do all that then I’m asking for something in return. I promise that I will tell you what I received when I write about the giveaway.
3) At the end of the giveaway there will be a discount on the companies products for readers of the blog, not available to the general public, even if they didn’t enter the contest. It just doesn’t seem right to have a bunch of people enter a contest and not get anything back. I’m not saying it will be a huge discount, but it will be something.
To date there have been no giveaways on Hanging with Dad.
