So at the beginning of May I told you about how Isaac went absolutely ape over having to take a bath for reasons we didn’t know. Since then I’ve said nothing about it, so I figured I should give a little update since there’s been SOME progress (we’re not all the way there yet).
There were probably two weeks of absolute freak outs when we tried to give him a bath. I’m talking clinging, screaming. end up crying the whole time we’re trying to get him clean. I’m talking not wanting to even touch his toys or see the water running.
Then we progressed to not freaking out but still really not wanting to get in the tub. He was tolerant of standing in the tub but still didn’t want anything to do with his toys and still wants us to hurry up and get the bath done.
This past week we’ve reached the point where he’s actually fine getting in the tub (still has no interest in his toys), and actually asked Erin to blow bubbles on him while I bathed him. I consider that a positive step. He’ll splash around with his feet and sometimes he’ll even crouch down and slap the water with his hand. He refuses to sit down and will absolutely FLIP OUT if you try to get him to do it, but all in all we’ve come a long way.
A whole lot of patience, positive talk and a little more patience has gotten us this far. Here’s to a continued progression and maybe even a normal, enjoyable bath for Isaac sometime in the near future (not that I’m holding my breath).

GO ISAAC. This all sound familiar. Our game changer was change of scenery. Grandma’s house, hotel or something. Then everything was fine again. Now we are back to almost nightly. Who knows.
Yeah, unfortunately the change of scenery hasn’t been enough. He got bathed at Erin’s parents house and it was the same deal. Would stand, but no go on sitting.
Weird, weird kid.
Hey, baby steps are better than no steps.
