A few weeks ago it was raining and I couldn’t take Isaac outside to burn off some energy that he really, really needed to burn off. So off we went.
We got to the mall and, of course, the playground inside was closed for cleaning until 1pm. AWESOME. So instead of playing on the playground, we did what pretty much everyone else in the mall was doing. We started mall walking! Since I don’t go to the mall that often (well ever really), I was unaware that stores don’t open until 10am. That didn’t mean there weren’t a ton of people there doing the exact same thing as us. Isaac, however, was easily the most popular. And yes, it might have been how I had him dressed.
I mean, this kid TOOK OFF. Apparently being inside the day before (due to rain as well) had bottled it all up and he was ready to let it loose.
I tell you what, when it rains and we can’t go outside, it definitely makes me get creative. He’ll stand by the backdoor and cry, begging to go outside and he just can’t understand the reason we’re not going outside. When I got blocked out by some stupid playground cleaning scam, I did the only thing I could think of. I said “eh, let’s run with what we’ve got” and let him roam. After about 20-30 minutes of running all over the mall, he was spent.
And the best part? Since I let him go for so long he crashed and gave me a good 2.5 hour nap.
VICTORY!!!
What do you do when the weather plays tricks on your plans?

I love how he stops to check out the workout gear at the end of the video. You may have started something here!
Loved mall walking when the kids were little. It took me a little bit to learn how to get them from the car to their rooms and keep them asleep but once I learned that, it was fantastic.
Mallwalking has been a good friend to me and helped me out in some dire situations. Isaac looks like a serious mallwalker!
